Community Outreach and Engagement

  • Coordinating meetings, presentations, and seminars
  • Answering requests for information from citizens, partnering agencies, and general public
  • Managing the agency’s language access program and training
  • Serving as the agency’s customer service unit
  • Conducting awareness training for new city employees through the new hire orientation
  • Handling special projects for example, ensuring the Eagle Scout Leadership Projects are met for some of our local Boy Scout Troops
  • Supporting all of the other divisions of HSEMA

Community Initiatives for 2011

  • Conduct a table-top exercise for the deaf and hard of hearing
  • Conduct at least three community-based all-hazards seminars with interpreters and translators for Limited English Proficient Groups who speak Spanish, Chinese, French, Korean, Vietnamese, Korean, and Amharic
  • Conduct one functional exercise of the city’s emergency alert notification system
  • Upgrade and enhance the agency’s social media capacity by assessing its current social media platforms and studying monthly trends of social media and emergency preparedness
  • Conduct four all-hazards business continuity, response, and recovery workshops and engage the private sector in training, exercises, and outreach
  • Conduct eight all-hazards community preparedness and response seminars for the city’s wards
