District Announces nearly $1 Million in Grants to Boost Security at Religious Institutions

Today, the DC government announced $976,500 in security and preparedness grants for District non-profit organizations operating at faith-affiliated institutions. The grants are managed through DC’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) as part of the US Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP). These grants support efforts for target hardening, planning, training, and other security-related activities. The funding can used to purchase physical security enhancements such as cameras, new doors, locks, and gates.
National Night Out 2018
Thousands of District residents will join with their neighbors, police officers and other community leaders to celebrate the 35th Annual America's Night Out Against Crime. DC HSEMA is participating in this important event by being on-site sharing preparedness tips and tools from the District's preparedness website, ReadyDC. MPD-Beat the Streets Finale Back to School Event
The District of Columbia's Metropolitan Police Department is hosting the finale Beat The Streets DC event! At this much anticipated event, there will be free school supplies, food, entertainment, youth activities, health screenings, and more. DC HSEMA will be on-site sharing critical, potentially life-saving emergency preparedness information. The East Friendship Baptist Church presents Serve Day 2018. At this community event there will be FREE medical and health screenings and information, children's activities, music, food, opportunities to learn how you can be of service to members of the community and more! Park Morton Apartment Complex Soca Fest Block Party
Park Morton Apartments is hosting the Soca Fest Block Party! This family affair promises a good time. There will be music, dancing, singing, food, a moon bounce and even a Wacky Water Sprinkler for the Tiny Tots under age 4. DC HSEMA will join the party by being there to share information on steps you can take to prepare yourself, your family and even your neighbors for all-hazards.
Office of Disability Rights Disaster Preparedness Kick Off
