(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Monday, October 15, at 4:00 p.m., the Bowser Administration, led by the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) and the District’s Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB), will offer a free disaster insurance and preparedness seminar to strengthen the resiliency and disaster preparedness efforts of District businesses.
Whether it’s flooding, fire, or cyber-attacks, District businesses are vulnerable to a variety of hazards which can strike at any moment. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), 40 percent of businesses never recover after a disaster and 62 percent of business owners do not have an emergency plan in place. This free seminar provides businesses with information and resources to be better prepared for disasters, understand the types of insurance coverages available, understand which insurance coverage is best, and navigate the insurance claims process after a disaster.
Disaster Insurance and Preparedness Seminar will take place at 2720 Martin Luther King Avenue, SE. Registration for the seminar is now open at readydcbiz2018.eventbrite.com and pre-registration ends on Friday, October 12.
