District of Columbia Hosts the 2025 National Homeland Security Conference

Tuesday, August 26, 2025

(Washington, DC) – Today, the District of Columbia Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) welcomed the 2025 National Homeland Security Conference to Washington, DC for the first time. The National Homeland Security Conference is sponsored by the National Homeland Security Association (NHSA), which provides this important training forum for homeland security professionals nationwide.

“The District is the perfect venue for this year's conference, and we are excited to host so many homeland security leaders from across the nation this week,” said HSEMA Director and NHSA Board Member Clint Osborn. “Our city faces and addresses unique homeland security challenges every day, and this conference is the perfect opportunity to share our experiences, learn from and connect with colleagues, and advocate for the continued investment that is critical to the homeland security mission.”

“Each year, the National Homeland Security Conference is an opportunity for industry leaders in both the public and private sectors to collaborate in service of our larger mission: ensuring our nation is prepared for and against any potential threat,” said Natalie Gutierrez, National Homeland Security Association Board President. “By gathering in Washington, DC, where decisions on the safety and security of the entire nation are made, attendees will have the opportunity to explore and learn from unique local preparedness efforts while fostering the partnerships and connections that are critical to safeguarding the communities we serve.”

The conference will run from Monday, August 25 to Thursday, August 28, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and is the largest annual gathering of homeland security, law enforcement, fire, and emergency management professionals in the nation. This year, over 2,000 attendees will represent federal, state, and local agencies, along with utility companies, non-profits, and private organizations.

During the conference, attendees will come together to discuss emerging trends in the homeland security field, connect will colleagues from across the country, and attend workshops and seminars on topics including emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and community preparedness.
